Since 1997, when the Philosopher’s Stone was released, the entire series has sold roughly 450 million copies of the book (as of June 2011) and has been published in 67 different languages. A feat few have accomplished. The book series was turned into a series, consisting of eight movies. The final movie actually was split into two parts. The whole genre made so much money for so many people. Warner Bros., Bloombury, Scholastic, many other global publishers and soon to release e-book formats is Pottermore (a website by J. K. Rowling). There is no other movie series in the history of the world that has grossed more than Harry Potter. Finally, when you compute in all the tie-in merchandise and smaller stuff together, the entire brand is worth in excess of $15 billion. Not too shabby, eh?
